Modi unveils ₹52,000‑cr schemes to boost farmers, MSMEs amid global trade friction



At an event in Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to protecting farmers and small businesses, unveiling large‑scale welfare packages amid rising global tariff tensions.


Speaking in Varanasi on August 2, 2025, PM Modi announced transfers of ₹20,500 crore under the PM‑Kisan scheme to over 9.7 crore farmers. He also launched 52 development projects worth ₹2,200 crore, alongside ₹24,000 crore investments in agriculture initiatives like Drone Didi and PM Dhan Dhanya.
